Turkey tax (vat) tin number

I want to learn some more info about this warning e-mail about VAT :

Hello,

We want to inform you about the introduction of a value-added tax (VAT) on your invoice which will be implemented starting December 1, 2024. You will need to update your OpenAI account to include a valid tax identification number (TIN), as outlined below.

In compliance with Türkiye’s Value Added Tax Law No. 3065:
• If you are registered for VAT in Türkiye and have a valid TIN, please include it in the Tax Status and ID section of your OpenAI account.
• If you do not provide a valid TIN by December 1, we will be required to charge and collect a VAT of 20% on your invoice.

After this e-mail tried to find TURKEY VAT but couldn’t find.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Hi,
Thanks for the info but wrote this after this topic,
If we can’t full fill the VAT for Turkey do you think it means we need to pay %20 ?

Sounds like:

If you aren’t collecting VAT for your services as a business, then OpenAI will collect VAT for THEIR services as a business and you being a consumer.

Some users from Turkey want to add VAT, but in the list there is not TR (Turkey).

Hello, has anyone found a solution?

We receive an e-mail about our country’s specific requests for taxing. You are informing all users, since you are legally bound to do so. But why, when informing, don’t you guys provide a link for us to quickly add our VAT information? Even after finding the “right” place where the VATs are managed, why don’t we see Türkiye’s VAT option? Why is it not available? I believe if you guys don’t get to add Turkey, you’ll face many issues with many users and when you try to charge them more, since they haven’t been able to add their VAT information, all these users are going to be very upset. If, in my case, I get charged more, even though I tried to add my VAT information maybe 15 times since I was given notice, I’ll definitely consider having a word with my lawyer and proceed according to the Turkish Law. So hopefully, the developers or whoever is responsible will be able to add Turkey’s VAT on their systems before everyone is charged more and inform all users where we all can update our billing information accordingly. I wish some serious sense into whoever is responsible from this issue and hope it will get cleared out in a short while. I don’t want to have to explain why we are paying more to my accountant by saying “there were no available options for Turkey, even though the whole mail was about Turkey.” PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP. I don’t want to have to waste another minute of my time trying to do the lawfully right thing and failing, and knowing that I’d get charged more as long as I’m failing. It’s unfair, time-consuming, and potentially very very very harmful to your audience in Turkey. Please just add the country to the list and KEEP US FULLY INFORMED. PLEASE.
