There should be a Ctrl+F function, Ctrl+K is not the same

I used to always use the browser version of ChatGPT. First thing I notice after moving to the desktop app is the lack of ctrl+F.

Ctrl+K really is not the same. I say that because I can only imagine it’s meant as a replacement for Ctrl+F because of the fact there is no Ctrl+F shortcut at all. But why? Don’t tell me it’s minimalism cause ChatGPT the app is kind of a cluttered mess.

Since it’s such a basic feature I kind of doubt it’s not intentional?

If it’s a feature, then that’s unfortunate, because CTRL+K is slow, as it goes through your entire history, and more crucially it doesn’t highlight the word you’re searching, defeating the entire purpose for most Ctrl+F searches. Plus, it requires both hands (yes, that is worse).

I mean Ctrl+K should exist, but not having F makes the app worse.

So if this is a feature, and not having F on purpose, and for whatever reason it’s because of a “we can’t chew gum while walking” situation, then F is clearly the better choice over K.

In any case, when you search a word or phrase, it should highlight the instances of them occurring, otherwise it defeats the purpose.

In summary: As already exists in most programs, there really needs to be a search function for individual chats that highlights the word you’re looking for and lets you cycle through all instances of that word or phrase, starting with the latest instance.
