I know I’m not the first to suggest this, but I want to echo and build on a request that’s come up before: the ability to name your ChatGPT assistant and have it remember and use that name consistently.
Right now, ChatGPT is incredibly useful and conversational, yet it still feels a bit impersonal at times. By allowing users to name their AI, we introduce genuine personalisation, creating a companion rather than just a tool.
This matters because it brings the assistant to life. A name gives the AI presence, it feels more like something you connect with than something you command. It creates a sense of ownership, making users more invested in the experience. It encourages emotional continuity and trust, especially as the assistant becomes a regular part of someone’s day. And perhaps most importantly, it makes the AI memorable, not just in a functional sense, but in a human one.
This small personalisation feature could have a disproportionately powerful impact on user engagement and emotional connection.
