One thing that OpenAI always “bragged” about is that it will finish their currently running tasks when you hit limits. But with the recent changes and introduction to 5h limits into Plus plans, once the 5h limit is reached, it fully stops tasks directly.
This goes directly against what was said previously. I am not asking for 5h limits to be removed as I understand the reason they exist, but I am asking for tasks to not be stopped mid-task.
Can’t do that. People where abusing it to create long running tasks to go above and beyond ones limits.
A fair solution would be to give a few more %s of usage when the main limit is reached but you still have a task running
I understand that, but I am speaking specifically about the 5h limit. A simple solution is to simply let the task finish if the 5h limits are reached mid-task and still count towards weekly usage. Would still limit users while not breaking tasks due to a 5h limit.
I completely agree, this is very frustrating. I submitted a final task relying on the displayed 5-hour limit (which showed 9%), but because the system doesn’t update instantly, the limit was reached and the response remained incomplete. If a task is submitted and shows up in the chat, it should be processed to completion, regardless of how much time is left.
