Dear OpenAI Team,
I am an avid user of ChatGPT for deep discussions, idea storage, and long-term thinking processes. However, I have reached the memory limit for saved conversations, which significantly restricts my ability to use ChatGPT as an evolving thought partner.
Therefore, I would like to propose an important feature: Expandable memory as a premium, paid option.
Why is this important?
Power users like me rely on ChatGPT for long-term, structured discussions and need memory capacity that allows them to build on past conversations without deleting older ones.
The demand for personalized AI experiences is growing, and extended memory would allow ChatGPT to become a true “thinking archive” rather than just a short-term assistant.
It offers OpenAI a new revenue stream, as many users would be willing to pay for increased memory—just like with cloud storage or AI model upgrades.
How could this be implemented?
Subscription-based memory expansion:
- Example: “Memory+” or “Extended Memory” as an add-on subscription (similar to ChatGPT Plus).
- Scalable tiers: e.g., +50% memory for $X/month, +100% for $Y/month.
Conclusion:
I strongly believe that expandable memory would be a natural evolution of ChatGPT, benefiting both users and OpenAI. It would increase user satisfaction while also creating a monetizable premium feature.
Many users, including myself, would be willing to pay for this option.
Thank you for your great work—I look forward to your feedback!
Best regards,
Ricco
