Tried to reboot my phone, uninstall and reinstall the app again – didn’t work.
Started a new chat — and the happy little pencil was back. I rechecked my older chats and they all had the pencil. Only in the most recent chat the pencil was missing. Guess it was a system glitch or something, possibly resulted from a forced pause of a long deep research.

Hi all,
Yesterday I uninstalled and reinstalled ChatGPT ios app because of a glitch which couldn’t be solved otherwise, and I found that I couldn’t edit the the already-sent messages anymore.
Is it just me or it’s same for every ios app user? Is it a deliberate system change by OpenAI?
It’s very inconvenient now for me as I’m used to frequently polishing my messages for accurate expression and for precise control of the flow of my chats.
The edit function is still available on the webpage version - but it’s much slower than the app and often lags. That’s why I love to stick to the app.
