Title: Selectable Prompt Presets / Answer Modes in ChatGPT
I would like to suggest a feature that lets users save frequently used prompting styles or answer requirements as selectable presets.
For example, users could create presets such as:
-
Translation mode
-
Business email mode
-
Technical explanation mode
-
Concise summary mode
-
Fact-checking mode
Each preset would contain instructions written by the user, such as preferred tone, answer format, language, level of detail, or specific rules. During a chat, the user could simply select a preset by number or custom name from the top or bottom of the chat input area before sending a message.
This would be different from current custom instructions or memory because the user could choose a different mode for each message or conversation without rewriting the same instructions every time.
Expected benefits:
-
Users can ask questions faster and more consistently.
-
ChatGPT can better understand the intended answer style.
-
Repeated long prompts can be reduced.
-
It may reduce unnecessary context and improve efficiency.
-
It would be especially useful for users who frequently switch between translation, business writing, technical work, summaries, and casual questions.
Example:
Preset name: “Russian business translation”
Instruction: “Translate Korean into natural Russian business style. Keep the meaning accurate. Do not over-explain unless asked.”
Then, when chatting, the user selects this preset and types only the Korean sentence.
I believe this would improve usability for frequent users and make ChatGPT more efficient for repeated workflows.
