Bug report
Task: Daily automation that checks a website and reports a short status.
Schedule: Configured to run once each morning at a specific local time.
Symptom: The automation repeatedly pauses with “Too many unread executions.” I open the notification every day and read the result in the chat thread.
Expected: Opening the notification and viewing the run output in the active chat should mark that execution as read and prevent auto-pausing.
Actual: After several days of runs, the task auto-pauses again despite daily chat views.
Note: If only views in the Automations panel count as “read,” this is unclear, since chat views don’t appear to register.
Repro steps:
Create a daily automation that posts results to a chat.
Each day, open the push notification and read the message in the chat.
Observe the task eventually pausing with “Too many unread executions.”
Frequency: Multiple occurrences across several weeks.
Environment: ChatGPT Web on desktop, modern browser on Linux.
Note: I filled this bug report on ChatGPT website. Posting here for public audience.
