This is concerning the real-time voice chat on the Android app for chat GPT 4o.
One of the main things I use the voice chat for is for ongoing conversations.
I noticed that for a single conversation, the real-time voice chat is limited to 1 hour. After that, an error message pops up saying that there is a one hour limit on real-time voice, and then it reverts to the old voice chat mode. Having to start a new chat if you want to use real-time voice mode again.
This is different than the daily limit. This is about the single conversation limit.
I am fine with the daily limit on real-time voice. However, I really feel it would be very nice if we could have The real-time voice chat able to extend past 1 hour for a single conversation.
It kind of makes it so one can’t enjoy the new voice chat feature unless they start a new chat over and over again, limited by an hour. However, it is the extended chats which can hold a lot of value. And starting a new one would mean you have to start from scratch with the context.
It has made it so that I find myself not using the new voice chat much because my voice chats are on specific topics and once the hour gets used up it doesn’t feel worth it to start a new chat Because of the tedious issue of having to rebuild context again.
And it’s a real bummer because the new voice chat is nice and I would like to be able to enjoy it more.
I know everything is currently new, So it might just be limited temporarily, but I feel that would be very nice if we could have more than one hour in the real-time voice chat mode. If someone else agrees I’d suggest to upvote (if possible?) because I feel like this change would bring a lot to the service. Thanks!

I agree, I think longer and more in-depth conversations would benefit development of the AI, as use cases can be unique. I have been trying to use the voice function to act as an assistant during work to recall details, etc. as I move through tasks. The more data that can be collected through long conversations, specifically ones where the AI is learning how people work and use the AI in the workplace, the better trained it will be for paying subscription holders. People casually using the voice chat function for <1 hour do not have time to go very in-depth into a topic. I think the voice chat is really great for this application. But to become more of a competitive tool and more marketable to companies and private entities, longer voice chats would be beneficial. Not only would this get more people acclimated to using the product for work-related tasks and for longer periods of time, generating more reliance, it would also improve function.

So to understand, there is no limit of 1 hr on advanced voice? You can go on having a multiple 1 hour conversations? Is there a limit on this? E.g. can you have 24 of 1-hour conversations per day?

As a student who’s super passionate about learning languages, and the Advanced Voice feature has been a total game-changer for me! It’s helped me so much with improving my speaking, listening, and overall confidence in using different languages.
But the one-hour daily limit is really tough. I often feel like I’m just getting into a good flow when the time runs out. For someone like me, who spends a lot of time trying to improve, an hour just isn’t enough.
I know it is impossible for canceling the daily limit, it is money consuming to run a new advanced feature, I just look forward maybe offer an option to get more time? increase it into 2-3 hours? I’m sure tons of users would be really appreciate this.

Yeah… I was thinking in using advance voice mode for language learning but it is limited to… 40 messages every 3 hours ( same limit we have for GPT4) is that correct?
Being able to allocate a monthly cap freely would be more beneficial to be honest. And something time-based like 30 hours per month I think it would make sense as value for the user for the current price per month.
