Request for native WebDAV support in ChatGPT Knowledge Base

Subject: Request for native WebDAV support in ChatGPT Knowledge Base

As an organization managing internal documentation, we find it limiting that ChatGPT’s “Enterprise Knowledge Base” only supports file uploads or connectors to proprietary cloud providers (Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint).

Requiring data to transit through Google or Microsoft services creates unnecessary data duplication, increases dependency on third-party vendors, and raises legitimate concerns regarding data sovereignty, security, and GDPR compliance.

A native WebDAV connector would be a more rational and technically sound solution:

  • WebDAV is a widely adopted, open and vendor-neutral standard

  • It is already used by many organizations (Nextcloud, NAS, internal document servers, public institutions)

  • It allows controlled, read-only access without duplicating or relocating data

Supporting WebDAV would significantly improve interoperability, align better with European data protection principles, and offer a credible alternative to proprietary cloud lock-in.

We strongly encourage OpenAI to consider adding WebDAV as a first-class data source for enterprise knowledge integration.
