Request for Native ChatGPT Apps for Windows 10 and Android

Dear OpenAI Team,

I am writing to request the development of native ChatGPT applications for Windows 10 and Android. As a user, I feel that the current web-based interface limits the potential of real-time interactions, particularly with voice features. A native application for Windows 10 would greatly enhance the experience, allowing for seamless real-time voice interaction as demonstrated in your recent demos. Additionally, the ability to customize voices with different personalities would be a significant improvement.

Moreover, I would like to express my disappointment that Windows and Android users seem to have been left out, especially considering the availability of advanced features on iOS. A native Android application with the same functionality as the iOS version would ensure that all users, regardless of their platform, have access to the best possible experience with ChatGPT.

Thank you for considering these requests and for your continued efforts to enhance the ChatGPT platform.

Best regards,

EF

I find it worrying that in 2024 a development team is still producing Mac specific apps and/or code/libraries. They literally work with Microsoft, and Coding LLMs with capabilities way ahead of what the public has access to, and still, they only have a Mac application. What is going on?

Please tell me they aren’t still wrestling with Objective-C, ICK! I mean, you have to go out of your way to find a solution recommending/requiring Mac native.

(Anyone, remember how Scrivener, the writing software, for decades only on Mac, no Windows version, years and years of lost sales and growing their user base. Then a few years ago, relatively quickly they created a Windows application. The performance was vastly improved a standardized UI, UX, etc., became ubiquitous.)

Start with a web app, if nothing else, to reach cross-compatibility, quickly. This gets you to a Least Viable Solution (LVS). Then when everyone has access to the “desktop” app, you can review and revise. If its performance, WebAssembly, WebRTC and/or other tech solutions like Blazor, MAUI, and insert your favorites HERE.

If it’s going to take much longer, open source the OpenAI Mac-native app – and the community can take care of it in no time. Or, you guys have the means and know-how to prompt GPT-4o Next to guide you to a solution, do most of the work on the path to get there, and nearly write the entire app.

What am I missing? What would lead a relatively young startup at the cutting edge of AI technology to build a Mac-native-only desktop application. And years later still have no cross-compatible version?

I think also for Windows 11.

I would say the reason why I came to search for this, is more features.

Reason? I just tried the “ChatGPT 4o with canvas” model. And its not opening up on the side like seen in the gifs, I feel as though if there was the app, you could flick the switch to make sure it behaves as expected rather than leaving you confused as to why its not working.

Shout out to the OpenAi team though! This tool has been worlds of help for my career change. Its enabled me to hit the ground running.
