Hi,
As I understand in the web-version of ChatGPT it is possible to upload various files and formats to a Chat and for ChatGPT and the User to work on them together. The little paperclip icon for an attachment feature…?
However, at this time, the Windows Desktop ChatGPT does not support this feature. Can we please add it to the Windows Desktop version?
It would be helpful especially for uploading CSV, JSON, and various Text files for collaboration with ChatGPT.
Is this something the ChatGPT team is already working on?
Thank you.
All the best,
Shawn
If I understand your post correctly, file uploads should be available in the Windows Desktop app, but it’s possible you are using an older version or a different UI configuration.
------ I’m using ChatGPT desktop (Windows) and i frequently use the file upload feature by clicking the + symbol and selecting upload from computer (shown in 1st screenshot).
In addition to that method, you can also just drag and drop files from your file explorer into the chat, up to 4 files per message
----- Finally, my latest discovery is the Projects workspace in the left panel (though i may be a bit late to the party on using it efficiently lol). The Projects option (2nd screenshot) is great for multiple file uploads and a collaborative workspace.
Within the workspace you can upload multiple files, and have several chat interactions that all can reference the uploaded files. This is great for organizing separate chats for different topics all relating to the uploaded files.
If none of these options are available to you, I’d definitely recommend checking your version or seeing if there are updates available.
Or maybe I completely misread your request—if so, my bad! lol
Thank you.
I was terribly mistaken.
I had been looking for a paperclip icon (attachment?) for the upload feature.
As a consequence I thought that it was not there.
