I would like to suggest replacing (or complementing) the current daily usage limits on the Free plan with a monthly usage allowance.
Many users do not use ChatGPT every day. Some may use it intensively for a few days and then not use it at all for several days or weeks. A daily limit can therefore be inconvenient and doesn’t necessarily reflect how people actually use the service.
A monthly allowance would give users much more flexibility:
- Users could use more of their allowance when they actually need it.
- Occasional users wouldn’t lose unused capacity simply because they didn’t use ChatGPT that day.
- It would make the Free plan feel more useful without necessarily increasing the total amount of usage available.
- Users could plan larger projects without suddenly hitting a daily restriction.
- It would provide a better balance between occasional and frequent users.
For example, instead of receiving a fixed daily limit, a Free user could receive a monthly pool of messages/credits that resets once per month.
I understand that usage limits are necessary to manage computing resources. My suggestion isn’t necessarily to increase the total free usage — just to make the allocation more flexible by changing the reset period from daily to monthly.
I believe this would make ChatGPT significantly more convenient for users who don’t use the service every day.
Thank you for considering the suggestion.
