Hello OpenAI team and fellow users,
As a ChatGPT Team customer, I’d like to request a feature that feels like an essential piece of the collaboration puzzle:
The ability for multiple team members to collaborate inside the same chat thread in real time.
Why This Matters
Right now, even though my teammate and I are part of the same Team workspace, we’re each limited to our own private threads. If one of us starts a conversation with ChatGPT, the other can’t join in — even if we’re both logged into Team accounts on the same organization.
This limitation makes it difficult to:
- Brainstorm together with ChatGPT in real time
- Collaboratively learn a subject (like language learning or technical skills)
- Co-work on prompt development or creative writing
- Use ChatGPT as a facilitator during live team sessions or planning meetings
What We’d Love to See
We’d love a way for team members to:
- Join and contribute to the same active thread
- See a shared history and context
- Maybe even “tag in” and switch who’s talking, like passing the mic to ChatGPT
Even a lightweight version — like a shared thread with named inputs — would be incredibly powerful and would transform the Team plan from just shared access to true collaborative AI workspaces.
Why Now?
This feels like a natural evolution for Team and Enterprise plans — and the demand is clearly there from many use cases:
- Remote teams co-working with AI
- Partners or cofounders working on a product
- Educational pair learning or mentoring
- Families learning or exploring together
Thank you for all the amazing progress so far. We love the product — and this feature would unlock the full team potential we imagined when we signed up.
– Andy (on behalf of our duo Team)
