I’m writing to request some visibility on Case C-G7WH3hdDkozo where my Pro 20x Subscription and account was abruptly deactivated. This seems correlated to the large number of potential false positives reported by other users as well.
I am approved for Trusted Access for Cyber and have been using the subscription for verified independent cybersecurity work. There was no change in use case and I’ve been using it as I have for weeks/months. Use of codex was primarily via codex cli, codex app-server, and the codex app itself.
Can I please request for this case to be reviewed please as it affects on-going work.
same issue. I also have the Cyber certification, and my account was banned out of nowhere. All my workflows were pre-verified with GPT before I even started the tasks. Now my entire progress is frozen, and it’s incredibly frustrating.
If any OpenAI staff members happen to see this and could look into our situation, it would be deeply appreciated.
Additionally, I also did just activate 1 reset out of 2 since I ran out of usage. It could also be that the usage was unusually high for a 7 week period due to the reset.
Thanks for raising this, and appreciate everyone who added details to the thread.
The team is actively investigating the account bans that have been reported. At the moment we don't have a timeframe to share, but we'll post an update here as soon as we understand the root cause and have more information.
We'll keep this thread updated as soon as there's something concrete to share.
Same issue. My Pro 5x account was deactivated on June 26 with no warning or email. Appeal was immediately rejected with no specific reason given. Appeal Case ID: C-sWi75Z3OsIHy / Request ID: df7a48ac-69c4-46c8-82fb-330ada4f422e. Requesting human review. @OpenAI_Support
Could I check if this has been picked up yet? I notice other threads have actual support IDs attached to them but I’ve not received any correspondence from anyone at all for C-G7WH3hdDkozo. Considering that there has been a disproportionately large number of complaints about false deactivations around the June 25 timeframe plus the usage rate limit issue that’s ongoing, I would’ve hoped that the response would be more proactive than just letting our paid for services run down their time.
I appear to be affected by the same Google Play / ChatGPT Pro billing incident.
My ChatGPT Pro account was deactivated on June 24 without warning. The subscription was
purchased through Google Play on Android. I submitted an appeal under Case ID: C-gbBwLTXYIQFm,
but it was upheld with a standard template response and no specific violation details.
This looks consistent with the other reports in this thread: Google Play subscription /
billing state anomaly followed by account deactivation. I am not posting my email, payment
details, or Google Play order information publicly, but OpenAI staff should be able to
correlate the affected account through the Case ID.
Could @OpenAI_Support please escalate this case for human review, or confirm that it is
attached to the ongoing billing/account deactivation investigation?
The number of concurrent false deactivations reported on June 25/26 at the same time an issue in the abuse and fraud detection systems affecting all users ( Codex Usage Limits Depleting Faster Than Expected - OpenAI Status ) was acknowledge leads me to believe these are correlated. If you’re having an issue with handling the large number of tickets coming in, then why not rollback what seems to be a massive system error so that impact to customers would be limited while you investigate?
At this point, I’m just keen to get my work exported from my account and look for more reliable alternatives.
My account got restored today with the email “We have determined that we incorrectly deactivated your account access. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.” Subscription status was reverted to free even though I paid on the 7th of June and lost access on the 25th of June. It looks like the resets that were given out during the downtime wasn’t compensated for as well. I’m exporting all of my data and I am heavily deterred from resubscribing to Pro after this experience.
Congratulations Did you get your account back on your first appeal, or did you have to send a new request after getting rejected the first time? Also, what did you write in your appeal and did you attach any documents?
Were you able to get your account back on your first appeal? I would really appreciate any details or tips you can offer – I’ve already appealed twice and both were rejected, and I’m feeling very anxious about it.
Same here. I was suddenly deactivated for alleged “Cyber Abuse” while using official Codex CLI tools. My automated appeal was instantly rejected by a bot within 10 minutes (Case ID: C-b8SvaFvhcXqa).
Seeing that others are getting their accounts back gives me hope. This is clearly a massive false-positive wave that needs urgent engineering intervention.

Same here! my Pro account was deactivated right after upgrading from Plus, with no warning and only a generic policy-violation notice (no specifics about what I supposedly did). Both appeals came back as instant automated rejections, with no sign of human review.
My use was straightforward, legitimate Codex development work on my own login, nothing shared. Looks like the same false-positive wave being reported here.
@OpenAI_Support could my case be included in the investigation Mark mentioned? Happy to verify ownership.
