Previously Had GPT-4o on Web — Now Suddenly Reverted Back to GPT-4

Hi team and fellow users,

I’m a GPT Plus subscriber, and I’ve been using GPT-4o on both my mobile app and desktop browser without any issues—until recently.

A few days ago, I was able to access GPT-4o on the web version just fine. But now, for some reason, the web interface has reverted back to GPT-4. I no longer see GPT-4o as an option, while GPT-4o still works perfectly on my mobile app.

Here’s what I’ve tried:

  • Logging out and back in
  • Clearing cache and cookies
  • Using different browsers and incognito mode
  • Confirmed I’m logged in with the same Plus account

None of these steps helped. GPT-4o is just no longer available on the desktop for me, even though it was before.

Has anyone else experienced this sudden change?
Is this a known issue or a change in rollout policy?

Would appreciate any insights or support. Thanks in advance!

Hey, welcome to the community!

ChatGPT does not know it specific model. It says GPT-4 for all models. You don’t need to ask it. What you see on the selector, it is true.

Here are the links for all models:

Indeed, I get the same message

I think maybe there’s a slight ambiguity of definitions here:
You want to know which specific model is used and ChatGPT infers that you are asking about the underlying technology.
Take a closer look at the answer, the bot is talking about the architecture!

Welcome @crypto.yuanshan at first glance, ChatGPT seems to mention the model currently in use.

However, it is likely that it has simply adapted to your way of asking and your wording and is therefore using the term ‘model’ itself.

@polepole Could it be that this ChatGPT behaviour is now becoming noticeable because there are more and more different models with more differentiated labels?
