I’m considering getting the Plus version of ChatGPT and I couldn’t find any info on the boundaries of Plus newer than 6 months. I’m actively working with papers and need to create big amounts of code from screenshots. Is there a boundary with Plus (f.ex. still the 40Msg/3 days)? Or does it only apply to 4o and 4 is not limited? If I get the Plus, can 4 fullfil my needs?

This info from the help page should answer some of your questions:
As of May 13th 2024, Plus users will be able to send 80 messages every 3 hours on GPT-4o. and 40 messages every 3 hours on GPT-4. The message cap for a user in a ChatGPT Team workspace is approximately twice that of ChatGPT Plus.
Please note that unused messages do not accumulate (i.e. if you wait 6 hours, you will not have 80 messages available to use for the next 3 hours on GPT-4). Each member of the workspace will maintain an independent message cap.
If you are doing some serious work, I would highly recommend Plus without hesitation. It has higher context window, I think up to 128,000 and I believe the limit of messages is now up to 100. I have been using it and recently never reach out the limit.
