ChatGPT Plus Subscription: Limits and Usage Tracking

I’ve been using ChatGPT in Germany for several years, but today I received a notification about a limit for ChatGPT-4o (not 4.5). I wasn’t aware there was a limit for this version.

Could you clarify what the current limit is? (I haven’t reached it before.) When does the limit reset, and where can I track my usage to see how close I am to reaching it? Where can I find the current status or information on limits?

This is what I see under Settings-> SUbscription:

Limits from 10 months ago that you had not yet triggered are mentioned in this help page

https://help.openai.com/en/articles/6950777-what-is-chatgpt-plus#h_d78bb59065

That doesn’t seem to fully apply in this case. The message states:

"As of May 13th, 2024, Plus users will be able to send 80 messages every 3 hours on GPT-4."

However, I was only blocked for about 1 hour, which doesn’t match this rule.

How it works: you can’t make input 81 of your 80 limit until input 1 expires out of a three-hour window.

You have a rate of maximum 40 or 80 in any three hour period.

If you make 80 requests in 1 hour, you will be told to wait two hours.

Ah okay, that makes sense.

But, I guess there is no way for me to see how many messages I have currently used?

You are correct: there is no counter available to allow you to judiciously use the maximum rate. You have to use the maximum rate with the chance of being limited for a period.
