Persistent Project Workspaces

I’d like the ability to create long-term project workspaces where ChatGPT maintains the full context of an ongoing project instead of relying on individual conversations. A workspace would remember architecture, decisions, completed tasks, current status, documentation, uploaded files, diagrams, and previous troubleshooting steps across multiple sessions.

For example, an IT infrastructure project could remember server names, IP addresses, network topology, migration plans, firewall rules, Microsoft 365 configuration, and outstanding tasks without requiring me to restate the context every time I start a new chat.

The workspace should function like a shared project notebook, allowing ChatGPT to build knowledge over time while keeping unrelated conversations separate.

This would allow ChatGPT to function more like a technical partner than a chat assistant. Instead of repeatedly rebuilding context, it could continue working from where we left off, making long-term planning, documentation, troubleshooting, and project management significantly more efficient.

Hey @rickles! I can see why this would be useful for infrastructure or development work where the context keeps building over time.

Projects can help today by keeping related chats, files, and instructions together. For longer work, it can also help to keep a running project summary that ChatGPT updates as decisions are made. It’s not a full replacement for what you’re describing, but it can make ongoing projects easier to manage.

This lines up with feedback around stronger Project memory and better continuity for long-running work. I can’t share a timeline right now, but I’ll pass this along internally.
