Persistent dashboards for long-term ChatGPT goals

Subject: Feature Request: Persistent Mission Dashboard, Progress Tracking, and Long-Term Goal Management
Dear OpenAI Team,
I would like to share feedback based on an intensive, long-term use case of ChatGPT.
Over time, I have evolved ChatGPT from a conversational assistant into what I would describe as a personal operating system for leadership development, project management, long-term planning, decision support, and life architecture.
While ChatGPT is already extremely powerful, I have encountered several limitations that become increasingly relevant when using it as a long-term mission and development platform rather than as a traditional chatbot.
Key Areas for Improvement

  1. Persistent Dashboards
Currently, dashboards and tracking systems must be recreated through conversation.
A dedicated dashboard layer with persistent states would be extremely valuable.
    Examples:
    Personal mission dashboards
    Leadership development dashboards
    Long-term project dashboards
    Life planning systems
  2. Visual Progress Tracking
Text-based progress tracking is functional but limited.
    Useful additions would include:
    Progress bars
    Completion indicators
    Goal trackers
    Milestone visualization
    Project status indicators
This would significantly improve motivation and usability.
  3. Long-Term Goal Management
Many users are now using ChatGPT for goals that span months or years.
    Examples:
    Career development
    Leadership development
    Education
    Health
    Financial goals
    A native system for managing:
    annual goals
    quarterly goals
    monthly goals
    project milestones
    would be highly valuable.
  4. Mission and Project Tracking
I currently maintain a personal “Mission 36” system that includes:
    daily reviews
    weekly reviews
    quarterly reviews
    project prioritization
    mission-critical alerts
    progress scoring
Much of this must currently be simulated through prompts and memory.
A native project and mission tracking system would greatly enhance this use case.
  5. Dashboard Widgets
A widget-based dashboard system would be a major improvement.
    Potential widgets:
    Project Radar
    Progress Tracker
    Mission Score
    Goal Progress
    Review Tracker
    Habit Tracker
    Milestone Tracker
This would allow users to build personalized operating systems inside ChatGPT.
  6. Visual Gamification for Long-Term Development
Many users are motivated by visible progress.
    Examples:
    Levels
    Progress bars
    Achievement milestones
    Development paths
    Growth maps
These features could be optional but would be very effective for long-term engagement.
    Why This Matters
I believe ChatGPT is evolving beyond being only a conversational AI.
For some users, it is becoming:
    a strategic advisor
    a leadership coach
    a project management system
    a personal knowledge base
    a life operating system
The features above would significantly improve ChatGPT’s ability to support these advanced use cases.
Thank you for your work and for continuously improving the platform.
    Kind regards,
    Ron Städter

I use ChatGPT daily, increasingly in projects and often continually for hours on end. I also use it for a very diverse range of applications, such as coding, advice on electronic hardware projects, troubleshooting, repairs, car mechanics, gardening, health advice, legal advice, financial analysis, product review, purchasing advice, cooking advice, computer operating system and application advice, - there is nothing it cannot help with. I have friends who even use it for parenting advice! But I wouldn’t want it to become a gigantic bloated app that is trying to be all things to all people. It uses enough computing resources already as the context window gets long after 4-5 hours of coding!

Thanks for sharing this, @Ron2. You’ve outlined a thoughtful long-term use case that a lot of power users can relate to. Also appreciate the perspective from @KevinH about keeping ChatGPT flexible without turning it into an overly complex, bloated platform.

Features like persistent dashboards, goal tracking, project management, progress visualization, and long-term planning tools have come up in various forms from other community members as well. It's clear there's growing interest in using ChatGPT as more than just a conversational assistant.

We'll make sure this feedback and the discussion here are passed along to the team for logging and consideration. Thanks to both of you for taking the time to share your experiences and ideas.
