Pasting into ChatGPT Mac app as text rather than image from word

Hi so I have been using ChatGPT macOS app quite a lot and especially with word, however when pasting text from word it is attached as an image of the text rather than text in the text field. Does anyone know how to paste text from word into the ChatGPT application as actual text rather than an image of the text.

Is there a way to paste in ChatGPT app without formatting?

Try cmd-shift-v to paste without formatting (works on web, not tested with the app).

Cmd-shift-v didn’t work for me on the Mac app. As a work around, I tried pasting the text from Word into the TextEdit application first, and then from there into ChatGPT. Strangely, after doing this once, it’s now pasting fine directly from Word. Not sure if that was a bug or what, but it worked for me.

I’m having this too. I need to move it through TestEdit as described for every copy-paste, as it always pastes an image if I go directly.
AI is supposed to make things easier, but I need to double-handle everything I’m taking from Word to ChatGPT. This is very frustrating.

The same thing happened to me, pretty annoying. Especially since it works perfectly in the web application,

Guys at OpenAI are trying to achieve AGI but can’t figure out a solution for this. :laughing: Workaround: Pure Paste app. Hope it helps.

Also have this problem.

I’ve had it forever copy/pasting from Word to Gmail. So frustrating.

Searched online dozens of times, no one seems to have a fix.

Facing the exact same problems. Copying text from ppt and pasting in ChatGPT app becomes image instead of text. Anyone found a quick fix yet?

Same. This annoying problem has existed for several months and I haven’t seen a fix.

open a browser tab >paste text from word to browser>>copy from browser>paste to chatgpt

I have found another option in Mac, copy and paste Word content to Notes. From Notes copy and paste in ChatGPT. It recognises are word and not as image

End of October 2024 - Still having the same issue as you, i.e. when pasting from word or outlook (edit mode, not reading email!), text is pasted as image.
Every time I have to step through a text editor…
hope to see it fixed soon.

Try pasting into the Chat Search bar up top and then re-copying/pasting into Message GPT.
