Paid for Pro Again — Pro Extended Still Unavailable

OpenAI Says Pro Upgrades Apply Immediately. So Why Is Pro Extended Still Locked?

I repurchased ChatGPT Pro.

My account says Pro.

But Pro Extended is still greyed out and says:

“Your limit will reset on 17 Jun 2026.”

My plan automatically reverted to Plus after one month. I decided I still needed Pro, so I bought Pro again.

After repurchasing Pro, I expected Pro Extended access to become available again.

But it did not.

This seems to contradict OpenAI’s own Help Center.

OpenAI says that when a user upgrades to Pro, the new usage limits and capabilities apply immediately.

OpenAI also says that if a user reaches the Pro-model usage limit, ChatGPT will use another available model until the Pro-model allowance resets.

So which rule applies here?

If I repurchased Pro after my plan reverted to Plus, why is the old Pro Extended lockout still active?

Questions for OpenAI:

  1. Does a previous Pro Extended cooldown carry over after a plan reverts to Plus?

  2. When someone repurchases Pro, should the Pro-model allowance reset immediately?

  3. If upgrades apply immediately, why is Pro Extended still locked until 17 Jun?

  4. Is my account stuck in an old usage-limit state?

  5. Is this intended behaviour?

  6. If this is intended, where is it clearly explained before repurchasing Pro?

This matters because I paid for Pro again specifically to use Pro Extended. My account says Pro, but Pro Extended remains unavailable for several more days.

Can OpenAI Support clarify whether this is intended behaviour, a usage-limit carryover, or an account/billing-state bug?

why is openai not responding here or the help center. I think my complaint is common sense.

I paid for ChatGPT Pro again.

My account says Pro.

But Pro Extended is still locked until 17 Jun.

How is this common sense?

When someone pays for a new monthly subscription period, the paid access for that subscription should open for that period. That is basic common practice.

I am not saying Pro should have no limits.

I am saying a previous Pro usage lockout should not silently carry over into a new Pro payment after the plan already reverted to Plus.

My situation is simple:

  1. I had Pro.

  2. My plan reverted to Plus after one month.

  3. I paid for Pro again.

  4. My account now says Pro.

  5. Pro Extended is still locked until 17 Jun.

So what exactly did the new Pro payment unlock?

This goes against common sense first.

It also appears to conflict with OpenAI’s own Help Center wording. OpenAI says Pro upgrades apply immediately and the billing cycle starts over when upgrading. OpenAI also says Pro-model usage may remain unavailable until the allowance resets.

So which rule applies here?

If a previous Pro Extended cooldown carries over into a new Pro payment, that should be clearly disclosed before payment.

Because from a normal user’s perspective, paying for Pro again should reopen Pro access for the new paid period.

Questions for OpenAI:

  1. Does a previous Pro Extended cooldown carry over after the plan reverts to Plus?

  2. If yes, where is that clearly disclosed before repurchasing Pro?

  3. If Pro upgrades apply immediately, why is Pro Extended still locked after a new Pro payment?

  4. Is this intended behavior, or is my account stuck in an old usage-limit state?

  5. What exactly is a user buying when they repurchase Pro but Pro Extended remains locked?

This is not a request for unlimited usage.

This is a request for basic paid-access logic:

New Pro payment = new Pro access.

If OpenAI does not follow that logic, the rule needs to be disclosed clearly before users pay.
