Option to Turn Off Text Suggestions/Autocomplete

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I personally find text suggestions/autocomplete extremely frustrating, distracting, and unhelpful. ChatGPT 4 is my favorite service ever. However I am lately finding it almost unusable since the text autocomplete was added. Would really appreciate the option to turn it off. Thanks

Same here.
The Text Suggestions appears to also be the main reason Chatgpt freezes Browsers.
It is so stupid to add it as a default feature without asking.
Especially because it interferes with your inputs when it doesnt predict your input correctly, which is like 90% of the time wrong.
The Chatgpt Mac OS App is completelly freezing the whole mac sometimes because of this extremely poorly optimized bs.

Autocomplete is an absolute trash feature if you’re asking technical questions or typing code. Most of what I’m conversing with ChatGPT about is not standard English. Stop changing what I type. It’s absolutely infuriating.

Agreed. I found this thread while trying to figure out how to turn off autocomplete in the app. I don’t remember it in the web browser version, but since I started using the app on MacOS the autocomplete is driving me crazy. Please stop.

I am also finding this auto-completion really frustrating. I wish there was a way to disable it. It really disrupts my flow when I am trying to think and type. It makes everything appear jerky and confusing. The option to disable mentioned by asgeirtj did not work for me.

Adding a toggle for text completion in “settings - general” would be an easy fix and keep everyone happy.

Yet another vote from me. I hate this so, so much. Every time I have idea in my head and I start typing, the autocomplete suggestions completely wreck my train of thought :frowning:

I just realised that for me this was actually an OSX feature that must have been added in a recent update (perhaps 14.7 Sonoma or something similar). To disable it in Safari, I just needed to do the following:

Go to System Settings > Keyboard > Input Sources > Edit > All Input Sources > Show inline predictive text and toggle it on or off

Same for me, I wish I could disable autocomplete. It’s very distracting so it should be offered as an option IMO :disappointed:

This worked for me as well, using ChatGPT in the Orion browser. Thank you very much!
