OpenAI Pay as you go vs ChatGPT Subscription

Hey guys,

Ive got a ChatGPT Plus subscription (20 USD p Month) and most recently was working on a project that required an OpenAPI key.

However, it seems that my Plus subscription is not linked to my OpenAI billing. Are those completely separate so that I need to set up an additional “pay as you go” subscription for the API access?

yes, : ChatGPT API and ChatGPT Plus subscription are billed separately. The API has its own pricing, which can be found at Pricing. The ChatGPT Plus subscription covers usage on chat.openai.com only and costs $20/month.
