If I use ada 002 for Text embedding models and ada 003 gets released are these models cross compatible? Or would I be required to reindex my documents that have the vectors embedded using 002 with the new 003 model?

I would assume a next-gen embedding engine to NOT be compatible. You would likely have to re-embed everything. The cost of embedding is usually low though.

Because a lot of people have probably embedded their data, I would guess the answer would hopefully be yes.
There are some very large datasets out there.
If not, then a decent lead in time would be required to let everyone re-embed their data without overwhelming the OpenAI servers. Especially if everyone tried to transition at once
