Locked out of Codex because of an old phone number?

Exact same issue here, high level support seems to answer with AI generated responses aswell, not helpful at all.

ok, this is infuriating. apparently it has been fixed for some users (as seen in the locked related topics), but it continues to happen to some of us - specifically for Codex desktop auth. some Qs:

a) where did openai get a phone number for me that has been deactivated 5 years ago when i moved countries?

b) how is it possible that with an account with: 1) a real, active phone number for SMS for MFA , 2) an authenticator MFA, 3) a password and 4) a passkey … i’m still forced to do OTP of a phone number they pulled out of their backsides? totally absurd. please fix this!
