Same, since the last app update, I’ve encountered this same bug: in voice mode, instead of the usual animation, a plain white square appears (in dark mode), and the responsiveness and quality of the responses seem to have decreased. It’s not a connection issue, as the problem occurs consistently regardless of the network being used. Everything else works as usual, but the voice module is affected by this bug and has become unusable. iPhone 15 Pro Max, updated to iOS 18.1, and the app is up to date.
Yes, today’s app update didn’t fix this. iOS v1.2024.282 is still messed, ChatGPT live chat starts with a crap white square and live chat is super slow regardless the language model selected.
Apologies for this experience here! We’re actively looking into it and will follow up once it’s fixed. Voice should work even though you’re seeing the white square.
Voice works but very slow, much slower than before regardless what time of the day or what language model I select. It’s so slow that it renders it useless / not practical. No one’s going to wait 3-6 seconds for a simple reply.
Due to this I stopped using voice mode, not used it for weeks, expect for testing to see if it’s fixed. That’s what the others say as well who have this white square bug.
Indeed, I had to force close the app and reopen and now the white box is gone.
Not only that but now advanced voice mode is back (was unavailable in all language mode during the white box bug) and the responsiveness is also back to normal, much less thinking/waiting time.
