While acclimating to o3-pro, I have discovered this evening that the o1-pro model is gone from the models dropdown. Its demotion to the “more models” dropdown and being re-labeled to “legacy” in the last few months was noted as a gentle reminder of its eventual and hopefully gradual removal. However, seems there is little time to prepare for its dramatic deprecation. Feels like a helpful friendly robot was taken away. Will o1-pro be back, or was my whimsical question about e-Dreams and Kozmo dot com the last thing I ever said to it?
As a follow up, it’s still available over the API (and subsequently through a nice UI in the OpenAI Platform Playground) and seeing the pricing gives a better glimpse into what may be going on.
o3-pro rate is $20 (input) / $80 (output) per 1M token
o1-pro rate is $150 (input) / $600 (output) per 1M token
Considering these rates, $200/month may not have been enough to cover all Pro users usage of o1-pro, and so o3-pro might create more operating headroom.
Will be using o1-pro in the Playground (not seeing any deprecation labels or being called legacy yet) and watching the per token usage bill.
