Deep research removed from o1-pro

Yep, not going to make a difference probably, but just noticing my go to getting nerfed. o1-pro deep research has now been removed. Why’s that? I avoid o3 like the plague, it’s a tragic model in comparison to o1. Sigh.

Hi!

Since the 24th of April the model behind Deep Research can been switched from an early version of o3 to o4-mini for a lightweight version of the same service.

What is the difference that you are observing? I am asking because I haven’t hit my limits, yet.

o3 compared to o1 is like day and night. o3: forgets or ignores your instructions constantly, produces responses that don’t reflect your prompt, so, for coding, basically not useable. So how that effects deep research, i’ve never tested it. But what good reason is there to remove my o1pro deep research? Don’t gaslight me “I hAvNt HiT aNy LiMiTs YeT”

What would be the limit of full version Deep Research? Last time when I checked I still have more than 200, now it’s gone.

From the link I shared:

Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu users now get 25 queries per month, Pro users get 250, and Free users get 5

I don’t know why your contingent did get reset. Try contacting help.openai.com.
It’s the best address to create momentum for ChatGPT related issues.

Thanks for the reply. What happens to me is that now Deep Research option were moved under tools menu and I could choose deep research option for all models except O1 Pro. In O1 Pro there are no tools menu present. Is that a contingent issue?

That’s completely independent and likely just a UI issue.
The model used for Deep Research is always a different one. It’s a fine-tuned version of o3 or o4-mini and this is independent of the model selection for the conversation.

So you’re saying it’s a ui issue that tools got removed from o1 pro? its still missing

I am trying to say that it doesn’t matter which model is currently selected when starting Deep Research.

If there is a conversation with o1-pro and the next step is to perform a deep research the workaround is to select any other model, like 4o for example, and then the tools are available.
Selecting 4o is not relevant for Deep Research because this task is performed by a dedicated model regardless of the model choice.
When deep research is done you can simply switch back to o1-pro mode.

I hope this clears things up.

Hello, I share the displeasure: Deep Research in o1 Pro is no longer available in the desktop browser. Interestingly, however, it still works on the app on my Andriod! It would be cool if this could be solved. I can’t log in to help.openai.com - it just doesn’t work.

well, I get the feeling they did change how it works in the backend, deep research seems less intensive when using the o3 model for example. As this fellow said, now deep research uses a generic model regardless of the main active model. If you start a conversation with o3, you can superfically select o1-pro and perform deep research.
