Hi everyone, is chatgpt image generation having problem today?
i tried log in/out, clear browser cache. still same. also i heard people on reddit are getting the same issue.
upon checking on status site it seems no problem on chatgpt image, i was confused if there is a bug or not. cuz i cant generate image no matter what prompt i use.

I noticed that you’re using web, do you also have ChatGPT app? If possible, could you check if it behaving the same in the app?
Right now OpenAI’s status page is showing that ChatGPT is fully operational.

I noticed something similar with one of my image-generation prompts.
Sometimes, before introducing a new model or change, they generate more than one response and ask which one is preferred. This time, however, the second image was not shown in the end, and I was not given the option to choose. 
glad i know, im not only one experiencing the issue. i hope OpenAI is aware on this.
tried on mobile app, none worked.
Does ChatGPT always give you options or do you always request that in your input? Because I don´t always get options, so that´s why I am asking.
Anyway, I tested ChatGPT web and also this time, no issue to get an output plus it gave me two options.
To sum up, I at least can´t reproduce this issue on not getting a visual output, not in web and not in app.
With reguards to ChatGPT giving me an option to choose between two generated images, I do not ask for that and ChatGPT does it rarely and the only reason I know why it would be is related to a new model being tested before being released.

I know you’ve already tried another browser, clearing the cache and signing out and back in. Have you also tested different ChatGPT models? That could help narrow down whether the issue is related to tool calling between the selected model and the image model.
If generating images isn’t urgent, I’d keep an eye on it throughout the day and see whether it starts working again.
If the issue continues after trying those steps, I’d recommend contacting the Support by emailing them support@openai.com.
Ah okay. That seems like a possible cause to this. I’d wait this one out, one minute something isn’t working and next it does again…these glitches before the new model release or even when it already has been released, in my experience pretty normal (and annoying at times).
Can confirm that this happened to me to. Plus user and couldn’t generate image on my web version, desktop app, and phone app.
It’s been 2 days now.
I’m a plus user and for the past 2 days images will not generate on the desktop app under “High” thinking (the new extended thinking). I tested this on a PC using one account and on a Mac using a different plus account. So two different plus accounts and two different platforms. The common link seems to be High thinking. Images will generate for me using my account on the ChatGPT website while running under High thinking. I was also able to get an image to generate on the PC app using a free account and a lesser thinking model.
To give some more context, when I try to generate an image that will fail it will go through the process like it is going to generate but will always hang on the last step and then eventually time out giving me the red message that “Image generation failed”. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and checked my version which is .133 and which is the most recent version available to me at this time.

Hi, I have been having this exact problem for the last two days too. In my case I’m doing as a side hobby of image generation. However, my prompt is rather complex and detailed.

I’ve been experiencing this as well. I generate ~100 images a day pretty regularly and this issue started to occur for me June 18 sometime between 2:30pm MT and 10:00pm MT.
On my tests, it seems to largely be correlated to prompt length, but not always. Today, I created a prompt that’s ~7,000 words / ~45,000 characters and that causes this failure case every time.
A lot of the prompts I do regularly use are in the realm of ~2,000 to ~3,000 words and those are consistently having issues, but when I use a much smaller prompt (~400 words), it’s likely to work.
I am located in the US.
For 2 days already, I am not able to generate any image… it starts, it gets up to “One last tweak” and it freezes on this point. After 10 minutes or refresh, it say “Image generation failed. Try again.”
I am from EU, I have the PRO subscription.
I am also confirming intermittent image generation issues.
It can generate some images like a fish, but when I use it to reference other images then it keeps saying try again.
I have same issue. Still not solved.
I have also been having issues with generating issues, I have tried making new chats, varying the prompts, and other tricks found posted online. Same basic issue is that it just gets ‘stuck’ on generating “One last tweak…” Or it will sometimes just forget the directions all together and generate something random, and only quasi-related to the prompt. I primarily use it to generate images for D&D campaign, monsters, characters, scenes, etc.
I do try to ensure that the images I’m trying to generate don’t violate any guardrails, which is another issue I want to complain about as it gives plenty of false positive guard rail violation message results. I even asked it to draw a red triangle inside a blue circle or something a couple days ago in a fresh chat to test the system and it said it was suicide/self-harm/etc…
I have memory turned off, and the problem is in all the chats. I even tried paying for the $8/mo option to see if that would help, and nope. So I spent the last couple weeks trying to generate images, getting failures without reason, running out of the 3-images a day, and getting frustrated enough to try and pay for this again…
