Incorrect UI path in Apps SDK docs (Connect ChatGPT – Refreshing metadata)

Hi team :waving_hand:

I noticed a small documentation issue in the Apps SDK docs:

Page:
https://developers.openai.com/apps-sdk/deploy/connect-chatgpt

Section:
Refreshing metadata

The docs currently say:

“In Settings → Connectors, click into your connector and choose Refresh.”

However, this UI path does not exist in the current ChatGPT interface, so it’s unclear how connector metadata is actually supposed to be refreshed.

It looks like this instruction may be outdated or referencing a previous/internal UI.
Would be great if the docs could be updated to reflect the current workflow or clarify the correct steps.

Thanks — hope this helps improve clarity for others using the Apps SDK :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi and welcome to the community!

The refresh button is available for me when using the web interface. Maybe it was just a coincidence you didn’t notice it or couldn’t see it earlier.

Hi, thank you

You are right, but that is only apps that are in “Development Mode”. I used to be able to refresh also apps that were published internally (see screenshot) within the Workspace. However, this is not possible anymore. The only workaround, I’ve found is to delete the app and create it again.

I checked the help pages and found this:

For Business plans, apps cannot be updated after publishing at launch. To change tools or metadata, you must recreate and republish. Enterprise/Edu plans have additional controls available to them

Is your team on a business plan? Otherwise, this may be a bug.

Yes, my team is on business plan.

I found what I was looking for. It is still possible to update the “Actions” of an internally published app. One can do it by following the following steps:

  1. Go to Workplace Settings → Apps
  2. Find the app and open its details
  3. Under the “Actions” section, click “See details” (see screenshot)
  4. The action detail modal now contains the “Refresh” button
