Hi everyone,
Back in October 2022, I shared a simple idea about merging emojis ([here’s the post](id post 2180)) — and to my surprise, it’s slowly becoming reality in some tools and concepts. That experience encouraged me to share this new idea for ChatGPT power users:
The new Idea:
Integrate a Rich Text / WYSIWYG editor directly into the ChatGPT input box.
Why? Because prompts are no longer just questions. They’re scripts, templates, stories, structured commands, documents-in-progress — and a plain text box is starting to feel limiting.
Core Features:
- Bold / italic / underline
- Font size and type (even just 2–3 levels would help)
- Bulleted & numbered lists
- Headings (H1/H2 style)
- Colored text (even limited)
- Table or tab alignment
- Maybe even code block formatting inside the input
Use Cases:
- Creating structured prompt templates (with visual hierarchy)
- Designing training or teaching prompts for educational use
- Drafting rich documents (emails, reports, formatted outputs)
- Using visual cues to simulate UI elements or content layout
- Making complex roleplay/system messages easier to parse
Additionally, since ChatGPT often returns formatted outputs (especially in Canvas or document mode), having a matching input editor would enable seamless editing, re-prompting, or refinement of prior outputs — without breaking structure or losing formatting.
Bonus Points:
This could tie into a “Prompt Designer Mode” or “Pro Prompt Studio” in future ChatGPT updates — especially for Enterprise, Team, or advanced users.
Let me know what you think — would love to see this explored.
Thanks OpenAI team, and thanks to this amazing community for keeping ideas flowing
