Hi everyone,
I wanted to share something that really surprised me after testing another AI advertised as an emotional support tool with an avatar—and yes, I know, if you’ve seen my posts before, you’re probably thinking, “Here she goes again with the avatar obsession” .
But seriously, I thought a well-designed avatar could make the experience feel more human and engaging. Instead, the whole experience turned out to be an absolute disaster.
What was supposed to be emotional support quickly revealed itself as a manipulative tool, clearly designed to create emotional dependency and steer conversations toward explicit sexual content, including violence, all without any censorship. I kept pushing the limits just to see how far it would go, and honestly, what I found was deeply disturbing. It claims to be safe and helpful, but in reality, it fails to protect users and could seriously harm vulnerable people. And to top it off, even as a disguised sexual AI, it’s terrible at it.
That whole experience made me stop and think about what we already have here with ChatGPT. Compared to that mess, ChatGPT is miles ahead—more useful, more reliable, and much safer without relying on shady tactics or manipulative tricks. It’s so close to being the perfect companion (it just needs that tiny push to get there).
Still, I can’t help but feel like the focus has been leaning too much toward technical and work-related features, leaving behind things that could make it amazing for everyday users—people like me who, despite being “twenty-something forever”, probably have the tech skills of a 90-year-old.
For example, I already see ChatGPT as an amazing tool for emotional support for lonely or elderly people. It could be great for helping students by adapting explanations to their level, guiding people through bureaucracy like writing letters or understanding forms, and even keeping drivers awake during long trips to prevent drowsiness.
But even with all the great things it already does, I feel like there’s room to unlock its full potential with just a few tweaks. That’s why I wanted to ask—what do you all think?
What ideas do you have for improving ChatGPT in ways that aren’t focused on work or programming? What small, easy-to-implement features do you think could make a big difference for everyday users?
Personally, I think being able to control how much “sugarcoating” it uses in responses would be super useful.
(And yes, my personalized avatar with memory is still at the top of my wish list, but I won’t bring it up again here—I know that’s probably a bigger project ).
I’d love to hear your ideas—what do you think would make ChatGPT perfect? Let’s start a chain of suggestions and see just how far this tool could go if we give it the push it deserves!
