I am currently a developer by using API. Does any know why the gpt-5-nano model keep tellin people it’s a GPT4 model, when it’s been asked which model you are. This is very confusing me.
The sanpshot version I used is “gpt-5-nano-2025-08-07”
Does anyone come across the same isssue as I did?
Please employ the “developer” message to provide the AI model its name, its identity, and whether you want it answering that it is using a particular AI model.
Many may want a custom application not answering that it is a given AI model.
The training of the AI model on world knowledge happened well before particular models were assigned a name, and would need more model-specific reinforcement learning that is not necessary when utilized correctly.
You made me blush on the inside, as you incidentally reminded me that less than a year ago I couldn’t even understand any of that.
