GPT – If You Use It for Work, Prepare to Buy Multiple Accounts or Switch to Another AI

I was working on the integration of EFI Pro “Gerencia Net”, a very broad and complex API. Unfortunately, ChatGPT couldn’t handle it properly, so I had to send the entire API in JSON format.

I believe this triggered some kind of suspicious behavior flag on my account. Or maybe it’s because I switch between using ChatGPT on the Windows app and the browser—sometimes one, sometimes the other? Either way, the results have been frustrating.

Here’s What Happened:

  • I can no longer send attached files.
  • I send 10 code files, and ChatGPT only recognizes 3.
  • When I request a response without restrictions or removals, I get a short, incomplete code snippet.
  • Response time is much faster, but the behavior feels off and unnatural.

Two Additional Situations:

(A) File Recognition Bug?

I ran a simple test by sending 9 Python files to ChatGPT and asking it to list the filenames:

  1. On my computer (which seems restricted), ChatGPT responded with only 3 filenames.
  2. On my phone, it correctly identified all 9 files.

:bulb: Conclusion: My account is partially restricted on my computer but works fine on my phone.

(B) API Analysis Discrepancy

I tested the same API code on two devices:

  1. Sent from my computer → ChatGPT rejected it, claiming “excess characters.”
  2. Sent from my phone → ChatGPT accepted and processed it just fine.

:bulb: Conclusion: Something is blocking or restricting my account on certain devices.

How Do I Get My Money Back?

At this point, I can’t even talk to support. There’s no clear way to resolve this restriction issue, and OpenAI doesn’t seem to care. If I want a working ChatGPT account, I’d have to pay again for a new one—even though I’ve never shared my account or violated any terms.

The Final Straw…

I tried using ChatGPT on Preview, O3 Mini, and O3 High Mini versions. But they deliver incomplete code and then prompt me to press a button to send the rest using ChatGPT 4. This is beyond frustrating!

Not only does it waste my time (which I don’t have), but it also holds back my projects and adds unnecessary stress. The company doesn’t respond, and their bots send useless automatic replies that solve nothing!

Here’s the Evidence That My Account Is Restricted:

:white_check_mark: ChatGPT no longer reads documents.
:white_check_mark: O3 Mini, O3 Mini High, and Preview versions are all restricted.
:white_check_mark: It stops thinking after 10 seconds.
:white_check_mark: It no longer delivers complete code.

If you’re planning to use ChatGPT for work, think twice. You might end up paying multiple times just to avoid restrictions and wasted time.

I will be sending some images to prove each situation mentioned above, showing the clear discrepancies and issues I’ve been facing.

On my computer, marked above, ChatGPT responded with 3 names.
On my phone, marked below, 9 files!

1- Sent from my computer (excess characters)

Sent from my phone (accepted and received)

I tried using ChatGPT on Preview, O3 Mini, and O3 High Mini versions. But they deliver incomplete code and then prompt me to press a button to send the rest using ChatGPT 4. This is beyond frustrating!

Yup same here. Paying $200 a month for what? I have noticed this happens toward the end of the week. I suspect there is a secret “soft cap” for pro users, and we are silently downgraded to o3 mini without telling us if we use too much for the week. It’s consistently dumber later in the week than earlier, and the quick speed and identical inference process/style to o3 is obvious.

Why am I paying $200 a month for this?

Hey I just did an experiment, I was logged into incognito mode and I had the same issue you described. When I log in normally or on my phone it thinks for the normal amount of time. I think there is definitely some kind of shadowban happening but the good news is that it seems to resolve when you go back to a familiar device/login fingerprint. Frustrating as the only user of my account.

I wish they would be more transparent and just make us use 2FA if they are worried we are sharing our account or something.

That’s exactly it, my friend, just as you described.

Basically, there are many unofficial ways to buy shared ChatGPT accounts… They use shared proxies and the dev version of Chrome, which allows them to use the same IP on multiple machines…

For ChatGPT itself, it seems legitimate, with one of the only differences being the usage. A shared account will always have a consumption maybe 5 to 10 times higher, or even more, compared to a “normal” account.

However, people who work with programming, like me and maybe you, will inevitably always use a lot of its capacity…

In other words… there is already a certain X or Y amount of responses available for the models in the Plus version, and in the Pro version, it is unlimited—but without abuse.

How to differentiate? I think that’s the big problem for the company.

Now, talking about the solution. What I did—and it worked (also following your recommendations)—was to log out of all devices and stay without using it for two days… without working.

The account returned to normal. After hours of work, IT GOT LIMITED. (I was using the APP.)

Then, I opened an incognito browser, logged in, and it was no longer limited…

I think that if this happens, you should alternate the login method and test… If it’s still limited, you should pray, buy another account, and stop using it, because as far as I know, if it’s REALLY limited, there’s nothing you can do… Just wait and hope it doesn’t happen again.

I’m working now, and everything is fine.

I appreciate your messages and hope it’s working for you too, my friend. Have a great week!
