Several devs have reported the new voice model in GPT-4o will roll out this week via the API (first) in alpha along with a limited number of Plus users, followed by a slow roll public beta in coming weeks and months. Can anybody here confirm timing and/or developer notification process via the API? Thank you.

This is pure speculation.
No one outside of OpenAI has any knowledge of when this capability will be released.

Thank you so much @anon22939549 - this was reported by two developers from Zapier about integration of the new GPT-4o features, in response to a support ticket. I’ll report back your response. Appreciate the quick reply.

People open chat GPt app on phone and you enter the voice mode and upon that you will have an info button on top right there you will see the information.
However it still doesn’t say anything about it being through API

That’s been popping up since the Spring Update event. It doesn’t mean anything right now with respect to when the v2v capability will become available.

Same for me, I took a Plus account just for that because it is a total Game Changer in the voice interraction. So magic, I was hinking it was a fake until a demo at Vivatech.
Far beyond cutting the edges Microsoft tech (Custom Neuro Voice, …).

if they actually tell you how long it will take they wont get paid by the subscription (since its not worth it to pay 20 bucks just to wait like everyone else) and lose a chunk of their income, and possibly impact negatively on their end. so they keep it vague.
Id suggest not investing your time in being the first, wait for youtubers to cover it up ( they will be the ones getting access regardless). It will be all over the news.

To be honest, I wouldn’t want to use the new voice model with any of the current voices ATM.
I know Sky is dead and might never come back. But can we at least get another female voice that is less annoying than Juniper?

I am considering canceling my Plus subscription if the new voice features for GPT-4o are not released by the end of this month. While I value the advancements and potential of GPT-4o, the delay in rolling out new features is disappointing. The $20 monthly fee is significant, and without these promised updates, it becomes hard to justify the cost.
