  • Appeared again in new chat
  • Dalle-2 direct service works nominally

gpt-4 doesn’t have the ability to generate images.

Through the Dalle-2 Plugin, it does.

Then your issue seems to be with the plugin, not GPT-4. You should contact the author of the plugin for assistance.

Isn’t the DALL-E plugin authored by OpenAI?

I am having the same issue. For at least 24 hours the DALL-E plug in fails each time I ask ChatGPT to access it. The latest error message came back with this:

“It seems that there is an issue with the connection to the DALL·E service, and I’m unable to generate the image at this time. The error message indicates that the service engine was not found.”

Anything actionable with that? Anyone else experience either success or failure with the plugin currently?

What’s the specific name of the plug-in you are using? There’s several image generation plugins on the store, I think all third- party.

DALL-E
There is no information I can see about the official author. The description only says “Generate images using DALL·E.”

edit: I tried installing Michelangelo - which purports to offer a bridge to DALLE - and got an error with that as well.
“It appears that the server is experiencing some difficulties, and I’m unable to generate the image at this time. I apologize for the inconvenience.”

I am not aware of any first-party plugins for ChatGPT.

OpenAI did announce Browse with Bing and Code Interpreter with the plugin announcement, but they were separately selectable models in the GPT-4 model selector drop-down, they’re not in the plugin store.

Any DALL-E plugin you are using is almost certainly going to be a third-party plugin, as OpenAI has not made any announcements I’m aware of.

Looks like it was removed from the drop down, and now bears the “UNVERIFIED” tag in the UI.
