GPT 4 does not write code anymore?

I reached out to OpenAI about the drastic performance issues with GPT 4 over the past months but have seemed to only gotten ai generated replies.

For the past 2 weeks, GPT 4 does not write code anymore. It will start writing, then either finish on the first sentence halfway through, or it will get stuck and then repeat a single sentence over and over again.

I tried it through GPT, the assistant’s page, and the playground and faced the same issue everywhere.

I have been paying for a pro plan for over a year, and the API balance is over $100. Has anyone been facing these issues?

It hasn’t been able to write a single complete piece of code for a week.

It has certainly been not completing code as well as badly forming the code that it is writing for the past few days.

Just read somewhere and tried it out. Apparently is linked to the < sign, (might be this also >, but certainly the less than). I asked it to use ** instead of greter than, less than characters and it worked

I’m having the same issue since yesterday. It starts generating a block of code, stops after a few lines, after a little while it starts over again.

Just tried. this and it seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for the suggestion!

Added this to prompt to fix the problem temporarily

IMPORTANT NOTE: Right now, you are bugged and when you have to write “<” or “>” in your answer you bug out and stop answering. If you need to write these in your answer, please write instead &lt and &gt
For example when you write code, instead of writing Promise<number> write Promise&ltnumber&gt

bro you are life savour trulyyyy. this help a lot strong text

I’ve been getting black boxes all day long, sometimes followed by network errors for the last three days. I’m beyond frustrated. It can take more than half an hour to get it to spit out code with me often having to hit the stop and regenerate button over and over and over and OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

All C++ templating seems to fail.

RIP ChatGPT. It was a good one.
