Anyone else seeing this, any known workarounds?
(apart from switching to desktop app which I’ve been doing when particularly motivated…)
Hasn’t worked for me in Codex in VScode for… days to a week or so, not sure, haven’t been timing it.
Update, 26 October: /feedback still fails in the Codex VS Code extension with “Couldn’t verify feedback permissions. Please try again.” I reproduced it on my usual wired connection and on a phone hotspot. It also persisted after logging out, clearing the local Codex auth cache, fully restarting VS Code, and signing back in with ChatGPT. A fresh chat produced the same error; no feedback receipt was created.
I’m using Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS and VS Code 1.143.1. The extension process running during the latest test used openai.chatgpt 26.51007.21434. VS Code logs also show activity from 26.51021.22027 and 26.1021.22027 on 24–25 October. Earlier installed versions were recorded, but I cannot confirm which was active for each failure.
Both networks could connect to chatgpt.com and challenges.cloudflare.com over TCP port 443 with TLS. On the hotspot, https://chatgpt.com/ loaded normally in signed-in Chrome without a Cloudflare challenge page. Generic, unauthenticated command-line HTTPS and WebSocket upgrade probes to chatgpt.com/ received HTTP 403 with a Cloudflare challenge on both networks. Those probes do not test the extension’s authenticated endpoint, so they do not establish the cause of the /feedback error.
The VS Code extension log confirmed successful ChatGPT sign-in but showed no feedback-specific permission decision around the failed attempt. I’ve shared the redacted findings with OpenAI Support and requested escalation to a specialist. My GitHub bug report and diagnostic update has the reproduction details.
For clarity, feedback ID 01a14ffe-6eba-7100-b181-3759be0e9840 came from a separate report attempted through the Linux desktop app. It is not a receipt for the failed VS Code /feedback submission.
