Dear ChatGPT Community/Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to share an experience I recently had while using ChatGPT, which I believe could present an opportunity to further improve the user experience for all of us.
During a recent session, I encountered a situation where my memory usage reached 96%, causing some unexpected issues with ChatGPT’s performance. After investigating, I found that clearing the memory resolved the problem and everything returned to normal. However, I did lose several hours of work in the process, which could have been avoided with a bit of early warning.
To help prevent others from encountering this, I would love to suggest the addition of a memory usage warning in ChatGPT. Ideally, the system could alert users when memory usage reaches a certain threshold (perhaps around 80-85%) and provide clear, actionable remediation instructions. For example:
“Warning: Your system memory usage is approaching its limit (85%). To avoid performance issues, consider closing unused conversations or clearing some data.”
This could also be coupled with a link to a guide on how to manage memory effectively, offering helpful tips for users who may not be familiar with this aspect of system management.
I’m confident that adding this feature would not only improve the user experience by preventing unexpected disruptions but also enhance overall productivity for those using ChatGPT for extended periods.
I truly believe that this simple addition could make a big difference, and I look forward to seeing how ChatGPT continues to evolve with thoughtful user feedback.
Thank you for your time and consideration, and as always, I’m excited to see the continued improvements in this amazing tool!
Warm regards,
