Feature Request: Share/Transfer/Export ChatGPT Projects

Feature request: Allow sharing/importing/transferring ChatGPT Projects between accounts.

Use case:

  • Collaborating with other users

  • Users switching work/personal accounts

  • Company account migrations

  • Consolidating multiple accounts

  • Team handoffs

Requested capabilities:

  • Export/import full projects

  • Preserve chats, files, instructions, and project memory

  • Optional ownership transfer between accounts/workspaces

  • Multiple-person collaboration

  • Maintain shared links and organization structure

Current limitation:
Chats can be shared individually, but “Projects” themselves are not portable.

Hey @itsame1! Good callout. At this point, Share a Project is the closest current workaround.

With shared Projects, the owner can invite others and give them chat or edit access. That lets collaborators work in the same Project context, including chats, uploaded files, and custom instructions. Users with edit access can also update instructions, manage files, and invite others, which can help with team handoffs and ongoing collaboration.

That said, it’s not a full replacement for true Project portability yet, so I’ll pass this feedback along internally. I can’t promise a timeline.
