Feature Request: Nested Projects / Mega-Project Folders
I would like to suggest adding a hierarchical organization system for ChatGPT Projects.
Currently, Projects are useful for organizing chats, files, instructions, and ongoing work, but users who manage large and complex initiatives can quickly accumulate many separate projects at the same level.
It would be very useful to have a Mega-Project folder that can contain multiple Subprojects.
For example:
University Research
-
Constitutional Court Research
-
Human Rights Master’s Program
-
Book Project
-
Academic Events
-
Research Group
Each subproject could preserve its own chats, files, instructions, and context, while remaining grouped under the larger Mega-Project.
Ideally, the structure could look like this:
Mega-Project
→ Subproject
→ Subproject
→ Subproject
This would be especially useful for researchers, professors, lawyers, consultants, companies, and users who work with several related projects over long periods of time.
An optional additional feature could be the ability for the Mega-Project to contain shared instructions, files, or context that all its subprojects can access, while each subproject retains its own specific context.
In short, the proposal is to allow nested Projects or Project folders, creating at least two organizational levels:
Mega-Project → Subproject → Chats / Files
This would make ChatGPT much more effective as a long-term workspace for complex professional and academic work.
