First of all, I would like to congratulate you on the incredible work you’ve done with ChatGPT. I use it every day to learn, manage long-term projects, train, and solve technical problems.
I would like to suggest an improvement to Voice Mode that I believe would make the overall experience much more natural and productive.
Proposal
Currently, when Voice Mode is activated, the conversation switches to a separate full-screen interface. My suggestion is to offer an integrated Voice Mode within the regular chat interface, allowing users to continue interacting without leaving the main conversation.
The idea would include:
- Allowing users to keep viewing the full conversation history.
- Having ChatGPT respond with voice while simultaneously displaying the written response.
- Allowing users to view images, videos, tables, documents, and charts while listening to the explanation.
- Displaying a small icon or indicator showing that Voice Mode is active, without taking over the entire screen.
- Allowing users to naturally interrupt and continue the conversation without leaving the chat.
- Highlighting the text in real time as ChatGPT reads it aloud, making it easier to follow along.
Why would this be valuable?
This feature would significantly improve the learning and productivity experience for people who use ChatGPT as a long-term learning and work tool.
It would be especially useful for:
- Fitness training and rehabilitation, by viewing exercise images while listening to technique and breathing instructions.
- Programming, by reading code while listening to explanations.
- Vehicle and equipment repair, by viewing wiring diagrams or manuals while receiving voice guidance.
- Medicine, engineering, mathematics, and science, by studying illustrations and diagrams while listening to detailed explanations.
- Long-term projects and research, where users often need to review previous information without interrupting the conversation.
In my own case, I use ChatGPT for a personalized fitness and rehabilitation program called Project Hussein 90. Being able to view workout routines, progress photos, and exercise illustrations while listening to ChatGPT’s explanations would make the experience much more intuitive and effective.
I believe this feature would make ChatGPT an even more powerful learning platform by seamlessly combining voice, text, images, and documents within a single conversation.
