Feature Request: Inline Side Conversations for Multi-Step Responses

To the Team,

I’d like to suggest a feature that allows users to start a temporary side conversation about a specific section of a ChatGPT response.

When ChatGPT provides detailed instructions with multiple steps, I often have questions about an early step before I’m ready to continue.

Currently, asking those questions pushes the remaining instructions farther up the conversation, making it difficult to return to where I left off.

My suggestion is to add a small “Discuss this section” button next to individual steps or paragraphs.

Clicking it would open a collapsible side conversation where the user could ask questions, troubleshoot, or explore that specific topic without interrupting the main conversation.

Once finished, the user could close the side conversation and continue reading the original response exactly where they left off.

This would be particularly useful for technical troubleshooting, programming, education, tutorials, and other multi-step workflows.

The goal isn’t simply to create another chat. It’s to preserve the flow of the original conversation while allowing temporary discussions within it.
