I’m a Plus user, not an API dev, but I’m submitting this here because there’s no dedicated channel for ChatGPT feature requests yet.
As a paying ChatGPT Plus subscriber and a parent of two young children, I’d like to request the development of a dedicated Early Learning Mode — a child-safe version of ChatGPT tailored specifically for ages 3–7.
AI literacy is already one of the most critical competencies of the modern era. I want my children to grow up not just knowing how to “use apps,” but how to interact with intelligent systems — how to ask questions, think creatively, explore ideas, and learn through language. ChatGPT is already capable of this — but it needs the right wrapper to make it safe, intuitive, and engaging for early learners.
Key features I’d love to see:
- Voice-first interaction (with friendly tone and clear language)
- Simple, visual interface with a character or companion persona
- Curated responses appropriate for young children (filtered topics, limited depth)
- Creative, open-ended play: story-building, rhyming games, emotion naming, roleplay
- Optional parent dashboard with guardrails, usage tracking, and prompt templates
- Safe by design: no open browsing, no access to unsafe or complex topics
There are plenty of apps that teach ABCs or phonics. What ChatGPT uniquely offers is fluid, open-ended exploration. It can become a magical whale, a curious friend, or a patient teacher — all in one conversation. But currently, it requires heavy parental involvement to stay age-appropriate.
This wouldn’t just be educational — it would lay the foundation for emotional literacy, curiosity, and confidence with technology. And it would offer peace of mind to parents like me who want to give their children early access to the future — safely and meaningfully.
Please consider integrating this into the ChatGPT product roadmap — whether as a toggle, a “kid mode,” or even a separate voice-based companion app powered by GPT.
