Feature Request: ChatGPT Duo, a two-person Plus subscription

There is currently a missing consumer tier between an individual Plus subscription and products designed for organisations.

A Duo subscription could link two independent ChatGPT accounts under one paid plan, while preserving separate chats, memory, personalisation, Projects and privacy.

It could additionally provide an optional shared space for things both users deliberately want to collaborate on.

This would suit couples, partners, housemates and family members without requiring them to share credentials or merge their personal ChatGPT histories.

It could also convert Free users who would not independently purchase Plus. In our household, one person is already a heavy Plus user while the other uses ChatGPT Free alongside Gemini. A reasonably priced Duo tier would very likely move the second user primarily to ChatGPT.

I think ChatGPT cannot provide this because of its design.

An external data source that you can connect your account/LLM tool can help.

Thanks! I may not have explained the proposal clearly enough. I’m not suggesting that two people use the same ChatGPT account or that ChatGPT needs to distinguish between two users within one account.

I’m proposing a subscription model similar to Spotify Duo: two completely separate OpenAI accounts, each retaining its own chats, memory, personalisation and privacy, with both receiving Plus access under one Duo subscription.

Any shared space or collaborative functionality would be optional and secondary. The core feature request is essentially a consumer billing/entitlement tier between one individual Plus subscription and two completely separate Plus subscriptions.

In my own case, I already subscribe to Plus while my partner uses Free. He wouldn’t currently pay for a separate Plus subscription, but we’d happily pay more than my individual Plus price for a Duo plan covering both accounts. So it could potentially convert Free users into paid users rather than simply discounting two existing subscriptions.

You can use other services with their MCP. Create a memory and share it with users. You can have private/shared/public memories. It is free for personal use. The application name is Ontonym.

Thanks for the suggestion. Ontonym sounds interesting, but shared memory isn’t really what I’m looking for here.

The core request is simply a consumer subscription tier: one ChatGPT Duo subscription providing Plus access to two separate OpenAI accounts, similar to Spotify Duo. Each account could keep its existing private chats, memory and personalisation completely separate.

Shared features would only be an optional bonus, rather than something needed to make Duo work.
