Chat history can quickly grow into hundreds or even thousands of conversations. The current management tools don’t scale well with that level of usage.
I’d like to see a more robust Chat Management system, including:
Multi-select conversations
Bulk archive/delete
Sort and filter by date, topic, project, etc.
Tags or folders for organizing conversations
Better tools for identifying old or inactive chats
I also think this would be a great use case for ChatGPT agents.
For example, I could tell an agent:
“Review my chat history. Find one-off conversations I probably don’t need anymore, identify conversations related to ongoing projects, and suggest how I should organize everything.”
The agent could then propose actions such as:
Archive 137 chats · Delete 42 · Move 28 to Projects · Keep 61
The user could review the recommendations, make adjustments, and approve the actions before anything destructive happens.
Eventually, this could support commands like:
“Archive conversations I haven’t used in six months.”
“Find all of my golf conversations and organize them together.”
“Find conversations related to projects I’m actively working on.”
“Help me clean up and organize my ChatGPT history.”
In short: give us traditional bulk chat-management tools, but also let ChatGPT help manage ChatGPT.
