Feature Request: Allow ChatGPT to securely work across multiple Macs

I would like ChatGPT to support computer-use capabilities across two or more Macs that belong to the same user.

The goal would be for ChatGPT to operate as one continuous assistant across my computers, with my explicit permission, rather than each Mac functioning as an isolated environment.

Some capabilities I would like to see include:

  • Authorized access to files and folders on multiple Macs.

  • The ability to locate, open, edit, move, and share files between authorized computers.

  • Computer-use capabilities on either Mac, including interacting with applications and the desktop.

  • The ability to start a task on one Mac and continue it from another.

  • Awareness of which computer a particular file or application is located on.

  • Secure transfer of files between my authorized Macs when I ask ChatGPT to move or share something.

  • Access controls that let me choose exactly which folders, applications, drives, and computers ChatGPT can use.

  • The ability to revoke access to an individual computer at any time.

  • Clear confirmation before sensitive actions such as deleting files, sending messages, making purchases, or changing system settings.

  • Integration with ChatGPT Work so complex tasks could involve both cloud resources and my local computers.

For example, I might be using my MacBook and ask:

“Find the spreadsheet I was working on earlier on my desktop Mac, copy it to this Mac, update the calculations, and put the finished version in my project folder.”

ChatGPT could securely communicate with the authorized desktop Mac, locate the file, transfer it, complete the work, and tell me exactly what it changed.

Another example:

“I started working on this project on my desktop Mac. Continue the work from my MacBook.”

ChatGPT would understand the project context and, with permission, access the relevant files and applications from the other computer.

Ideally, the user would see a section such as:

Settings → Computer Access → Authorized Computers

where each device could have separate permissions for:

  • Screen/computer control

  • File access

  • Application access

  • Clipboard sharing

  • File transfers

  • Background availability

  • Sensitive-action permissions

This could make ChatGPT much more useful as a true personal computing assistant while keeping access explicit, granular, and user-controlled.
