Feature Request: Add Gmail “Schedule Send” to Connected Gmail Actions
I use ChatGPT with multiple connected Gmail accounts to manage business outreach. I recently encountered a significant gap in the Gmail integration that I think would be valuable to address: ChatGPT can prepare and send emails, but it cannot schedule them for future delivery using Gmail’s Schedule Send functionality.
Here is a real-world example of the problem.
I recently worked with ChatGPT to prepare a business outreach campaign consisting of 103 individually addressed emails across three connected Gmail accounts. ChatGPT was able to help create the drafts, route them to the appropriate accounts, include the necessary content, links and image attachments, and verify the final draft inventory.
At the end of the process, I had:
- 103 unique, completed Gmail drafts
- Three connected Gmail accounts
- Individual recipients already assigned
- Subject lines and message content completed
- Image attachments and links included
- Everything ready for delivery
However, because connected Gmail actions currently do not support Schedule Send, I still have to manually open and schedule each of those 103 emails in Gmail.
That creates an unusual workflow gap: ChatGPT can help perform most of the more complicated preparation work, but the relatively mechanical final step of assigning future send times has to be performed manually 103 times.
Requested functionality
I would like connected Gmail actions in ChatGPT to support Gmail Schedule Send, including batch scheduling.
Ideally, I could give ChatGPT an instruction such as:
“Schedule these 103 approved drafts Tuesday through Thursday between 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM Central Time. Stagger the messages throughout each day, maintain the specified minimum interval between messages, observe the daily limit for each connected account, and do not schedule anything outside the approved sending window.”
ChatGPT could then generate a proposed schedule showing:
Gmail account → recipient → subject → scheduled date → scheduled time
I could review that schedule before anything changes.
User approval and safeguards
I would strongly prefer this capability to retain the same user-control philosophy used for other Gmail actions.
ChatGPT should first propose the schedule, not immediately apply it.
The user could review the complete schedule and then explicitly approve it. Only after that approval would ChatGPT actually apply Gmail’s Schedule Send times.
It would also be useful to support:
- Multiple connected Gmail accounts
- User-defined sending days and time windows
- Minimum spacing between messages
- Per-account daily sending limits
- Avoiding specified periods such as lunch, evenings or weekends
- Different scheduling rules for different accounts
- Rescheduling an already scheduled message with user approval
- Canceling a scheduled send and returning the message to Drafts with user approval
- A final summary showing exactly what was scheduled and when
Why this would be useful beyond my particular use case
This isn’t limited to cold outreach. Schedule Send could be valuable for many legitimate Gmail workflows involving sales follow-ups, recruiting, vendor communications, customer communication, property management, event coordination and other business processes.
The important distinction is that the user would remain in control of what is being sent and when it will be sent. ChatGPT would eliminate the repetitive work of manually applying the schedule.
In my particular case, ChatGPT successfully helped prepare 103 emails across three Gmail accounts, but I now have to manually schedule all 103.
Adding Gmail Schedule Send as an approved connected action would close that last major gap in the workflow.
Requested feature: Allow ChatGPT to propose, obtain approval for, and apply future Gmail Schedule Send times to individual emails or batches of approved drafts.
