I’d like to suggest a small but impactful usability improvement for the ChatGPT desktop interface.
When hovering over the edge of the screen, ChatGPT displays a floating panel showing recent conversations. This panel is very convenient for quickly switching between chats, but it currently doesn’t provide a fast way to remove conversations.
It would be great if each conversation in this hover panel had a small “×” (delete) button. Clicking it could either delete the conversation immediately after confirmation or move it to the existing confirmation flow.
This would let users:
- Quickly remove conversations they no longer need without opening them.
- Keep their conversation list clean and organized.
- Save time by avoiding multiple clicks through menus.
- Manage a large chat history much more efficiently.
Since this hover panel is already designed for quick access, adding a delete button would make it a complete conversation management tool rather than just a navigation panel. It would be a small UI enhancement with a noticeable improvement to the overall desktop experience.
